About The Novello Theatre
Once called the Waldorf theatre and before that The Strand theatre, the Novello was built as a pair together with the Aldwych Theatre, each straddling the famous Waldorf Hotel. Designed by the prolific theatre architect W.G.R Sprague, the Novello seats just over 1000 people split over four levels: the stalls, dress circle, grand circle and upper circle.

Gorgeous It’s an excellent musical

Basic stage set lets it down but the show is funny and enjoyable The show itself was really good and I found the second half much more upbeat. The singing and acting were also very good. The only thing I thought let the whole thing down was the set itself, it was very primitive with only two scenic options. The blue stripy background could be improved by adding a simple Italian style scene similar to that found in the film. The huge light towards the end does create a lovely finale to the show though.
Enjoyed it but wouldn’t go again.

Number 1 FEEL GOOD experience I must have seen the musical Mamma Mia over 15 times , and I would see it again tomorrow, of course being Born in 1965 makers me a natural ABBA -fan , the story, the romance, the cast even with all te changes ( and I am a big Mazz Murray fan) but they all boast excitement and energy and if you want to forget all you worries for one night there’s only one musical to see : MAMMA MIA !!
