About The Novello Theatre

Once called the Waldorf theatre and before that The Strand theatre, the Novello was built as a pair together with the Aldwych Theatre, each straddling the famous Waldorf Hotel. Designed by the prolific theatre architect W.G.R Sprague, the Novello seats just over 1000 people split over four levels: the stalls, dress circle, grand circle and upper circle.

The entire production keeps up with the outstanding vocals
As a long-time fan of the theater (and someone who sees 'good' shows multiple times - including Wicked 16x - to experience the dynamic of seeing understudies and others playing lead roles), I can resoundingly give Mamma Mia a warm-hearted recommendation. I'd read that the vocals outpaced the acting, which I didn't find to be the case at all. Jennifer Adab was incredible. The tone, depth and range of her voice enriched the experience. For other Wicked fans out there, Jennifer's voice would sit perfectly as Elphaba! I hope to see her one day painted green as she would easily do justice to the role and its powerhouse vocals! Meg Hateley added brightness to the performance thanks to her charisma and voice. I'll definitely be seeing this one again!
